Highlights

After an impassionate description of the events (except for the part about Manju Sharma), it is time to give a shortened version of everything, viz. highlights and all the interesting bits. So here goes - The Highlights of Biohorizon-2005:

Before the event

"Haven't we met before?" - Aashima to Vishal Gandhi... another example of her shady friends.

Inauguration

What could be the highlight except Ashwani turning up 45 minutes late after P V Krishnan's class and then giving his masterclass speech:

"I would like to thank... I would also like to thank...I would also like to thank... (ad infinitum)"

Of course, all this was accompanied by a zombie-like just out of the graveyard tone, which involved repeated running out of breath syndromes.

Rest of the day

Having only one speaker left in the dsp TRS, and thus having Sunil Nath and Sudhir Joshi exchanging mementoes.

The HOD... taking... a catnap.

The JKD and K J Mukherjee episode:

As JKD left KJM after greeting him heartily and warmly, KJM to Sahai - "Yeh abhi tak waisa hi hai?"

R K Saxena to Amma:

"Saroj Behenji, aap ki aagya thi aur mein hazir hun"

Prof Lele to Aashima:

"We should be not equal, but superior to men. After all, it is the skirt factor".

Amma to Aashima:

"You are a young woman, have to handle both - family and profession".

Day 2

IPR issues in Biotech.

Subhash Chand to general public: "He represents Mehta and Mehta. The second Mehta is, I believe, his wife. khikhikhikhikhikhi"

(Of course, what was more interesting is watching Akshun try not to laugh)

Subhash Chand to Aashima: "lao phool lao"

Subhash Chand to me: "dekho, vote of thanks Akshun dega, isliye tum use rokna mat, bolne do khikhikhikhikhi".

Opportunities in Biotech Careers

Manju Sharma... and just Manju Sharma only... and again Manju Sharma

Gautam Reddy going to the bathroom when questions relating to Biocon came up, and staying there for eras

Bioventures

Subhash Chand to me: "Mike nahin chahiye, my voice can be heard across the hall".

Aditya Mittal to Subhash Chand: "We cannot hear you".

Emerging Fields

TKC: "This has been an emerging field for just two decades".

Taking Sahai's memento and giving it to TKC (perhaps we should ask TKC to give Sahai Rs. 150/-)

Vote of Thanks

AKS: "We would like to thank Education Times of Hindustan Times".

This was after I had specifically told Kartik to write HT Horizon clearly, but AKS said that he did not need that, he was sure of the papers.

Quotes of the Biohorizon team before the event will follow later.
